Let me share some background information about the person behind Trustwordy and the motivation for starting it.
My name is Paula, and I live in Dublin, Ireland.
1.
I STARTED TRUSTWORDY
to help businesses and people communicate their messages more professionally and effectively.
I like words.
They have immense power and meaning, but the reader must understand them; otherwise, they lose their impact.
So, at Trustwordy, I want to help make YOUR WORDS shine by crafting clear and engaging content that's accurate and easy to understand.
2.
THE EVOLUTION OF TRUSTWORDY
I've worked in the insurance, risk
and finance industry for over
25 years.
Throughout my career there, I frequently felt frustrated with the use of unnecessarily complex language.
I constantly advocated for using plain English whenever possible.
Over the years, I've spent countless hours rewriting text to remove financial jargon, explain complex terms, and improve poorly constructed documents.
That led me to become
the de facto 'editor-in-chief' in my own workplace!
3.
A PATH TO
PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE -
MY EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY
With no formal background in editing or proofreading and wanting to be recognised as a person
'who knew her stuff',
I realised I needed formal training.
So, I signed up with the
Society of Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) in the UK, now the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), became an Entry-Level Member and began my journey through the membership ranks.
I took editing and proofreading courses, read articles, blogs and generally anything I could find to expand my knowledge of the editing and publishing world. I sat exams, gained hands-on experience by freelancing and gradually progressed through the membership levels to become a Professional Member of the Institute.
4.
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP
OF THE CIEP
Achieving Professional Membership status with the CIEP was a significant milestone moment.
To become a Professional Member of the CIEP, I had to provide evidence that I had substantial experience and training, as well as positive references from clients.
Attaining this status was an important validation of my expertise and credibility. It meant I could be trusted and was someone who really did 'know what they were talking about'!
5.
THE BIRTH OF
TRUSTWORDY
After becoming a
Professional Member of the CIEP,
I founded Trustwordy.
Trustwordy has grown organically since, and I now work with clients in Europe, the Middle East, and the US, and I'm pleased to say that many are repeat clients.
I'm comfortable working in
UK English, US English and
Canadian English and
with print and digital media.
